The case study of play therapy for children with attention-deficit, anxiety behaviors in the single-parent family

Abstract
This study is a play therapy case for emotional stability and family connectedness improvement of children in the single-parent family. The client is a lst grade boy who had emotional and behavioral problems causing the anxiety about parents. After one month from the his birth, his parents were divorced and he never seen his father. From three to four years ago, he showed emotional and behavioral difficulties, such as hair pulling, bitting his nails and toenails, low-attention, hyper-activity, separation anxiety etc. This case was conducted once a week, 60 minutes, total 28 sessions. One session was composed of play therapy for the client (30~40 minutes) and intervention for his mother(20~30 minutes). During this therapy, I tried to use family¡¯s strong points, such as integrity, piety, affection for family, strong will of change. And his family participated in the therapy for improvement family connectedness. As a result, the client had emotional stability and disappeared behavioral difficulties. he didn¡¯t pull his hair and didn¡¯t bite his nails and toenails anymore. In addition, their family became to be more happy and more intimate.
